Captain’s Log … The Federation Starship Serapis, NCC-94304, has completed its re-fit at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards and officially departed on its new mission to explore the Avalon Cluster in the Alpha Quadrant. We are currently headed towards a rendezvous with Vice Admiral Kilund at the Federation starbase at Betelguese.

Captain’s Log … Commander Syrel Tol arrived on board this morning at 0800. Let the record show, Commander Syrel formally accepted her commission at 0803. Shortly after that, Commander Syrel enterred a formal complaint against Executive Officer Kip Ryder.
After further consultation with both officers in my ready room, we have reached a satisfactory conclusion and the formal complaint has now been withdrawn.

Captain’s Personal Log … We’ve received updated orders from Admiral Garbo and the Second Fleet.
Aparently, our little conversation the day I arrived has already had its consequences. Admiral Garbo has “handed off” the responsibilities for the Serapis to Vice Admiral Archer Kilund. Kilund heads up Second Fleet’s Diplomacy Task Force and is known for his “hands off” approach to direct supervision. Between Vice Admiral Kilund’s supervision and our mission in the Avalon Cluster, we might as well be on a deep space mission in the Delta Quadrant.

Executive Officer’s Log, Commander Kip Ryder reporting …
I reported to the Serapis today after visiting with my family back on Earth. And for a first job out of the Academy, I think I’ve done pretty well for myself. I’m the Executive Officer on board which means I lead the landing parties, supervise the administrative duty roster … stuff like that.

Captain’s Log … Star Fleet has been using EMH’s as medical officers on board starships for years now and I see no reason not to do the same. The latest medical protocols have been loaded into the Serapis’ library computer and the EMH should be completely functional later on this afternoon. As I understand it, the EMH on board the Serapis will be the latest version and can be displayed in either female or male forms.

Captain’s Log … I’ve reached a satisfactory conclusion concerning the selection of an Executive Officer for the Serapis. And at the same time, I believe I’ve also filled the position of Chief Science Officer and Second in Command.
As a rather unconventional solution to the selection of either Commander Ryder or Commander Syrel, I managed to convince both to come on board – if at the very least for this first mission.

Captain’s Log … It’s been a long week, but the work continues on the Serapis. The warp core re-fit is proceeding and work is underway on the impulse engines to see if we can address the shaking sensation reported by Captain T’avuk on her most recent scientific mission. Reliable impulse power is a must given our initial mission in the Avalon Cluster and the inevitable shears we will face as we maneuver through the formation.
